I might just have to bit the built an purchase the Fast Picture Viewer CODEC Pack. I appreciate that Microsoft have put together a good stab and getting the CODECs for its 64 bit OS for various cameras, but I'm appalled that the camera manufactures aren't doing anything to help. They seem do have a "bury your head in the sand" approach in the hopes that all this Darktable - Cross-platform open-source freeware. Digital Photo Professional - Pre-installed software for Canon models. Adobe Camera Raw - Free integrated module for Adobe. I have also read about the inability or unwillingness for Canon to release a 64bit CODEC for their RAW files, although it seems that most camera manufactures are similar. The FastPictureViewer Codec Pack contains image decoders (codecs) that enables robust support for 45+ image formats, including RAW formats from more than 580 digital cameras in Windows Explorer, Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Photo Viewer, Windows Live Photo Gallery and, on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, also within Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player 12, with full 64-bit compatibility. Affinity Photo - Best offer for the price. I also have got the latest version of Adobe Lightroom (although not currently install on this machine) which does again have a RAW plugin, but no system CODEC. I have also downloaded Faststone Image Viewer, which although does seem to provide a systemĬODEC, does at least allow viewing of the CR2 RAW files. I have been reading a lot of good things about the Fast Picture Viewer CODEC pack (including the possibility of getting an older version (1.8?) that is/was FREE.
